In May, Qlik not just rolled out a new release for Qlik Sense on Windows, but also added some small features to QlikView.
After a longer break, the Qlik Sense predecessor QlikView was once again optimized and equipped with some, mainly technical innovations.
Changeover to WebView2
QlikView Desktop has switched its rendering engine to WebView2. The modern Web technology WebView2, based on Microsoft Edge, thus replaces the previous WebView, which was based on Microsoft Internet Explorer technology.
Support for TLS 1.3
QlikView May 2023 now supports TLS 1.3. Support for TLS 1.0 and 1.1 will be discontinued at the same time. QlikView will now only support TLS 1.2 and TLS 1.3.
Stronger encryption
QlikView May 2023 now uses AES256 encryption instead of AES128. The new encryption is mainly relevant for inter-service communication. Accordingly, if QlikView services are run with certificate trust, new keys must be generated.
Functions for time series breakdown
Several new functions now allow time series data sets to be decomposed into trend and seasonality. The trend function identifies the direction of the data, while the seasonality function determines the seasonality with a known periodicity. Finally, the residual function can be used to identify the variation that is not related to the seasonal or trend components (noise). The new functions provide better insight into the patterns and trends of time series data so that actions can be better planned in the future.
Additional functions in the expressions
To perform more complex statistical analysis of simulations, QlikView May 2023 has been enhanced with some distribution functions from the Cephes library.
Improvement in AccessPoint customizations
When performing a system upgrade after the AccessPoint has been customized, the changes are now preserved after the upgrade.
New “Home” button
A new “Home” button has been added to the AJAX client and the QlikView Plugin. This button takes the user back to the AccessPoint.
