Business Central Release Wave

Microsoft has released this year’s fall release of Dynamics 365 Business Central. The new version once again includes various new features and improvements.

In addition to several enhancements in the development environment and administration, Business Central 2025 Wave 2 once again focuses in particular on sustainability reporting, e-invoicing and supply chain management. Several helpful optimizations have also been announced for the coming months for artificial intelligence with Microsoft Copilot.

More artificial intelligence with Copilot

With the second wave of releases this year, the AI functionalities in Business Central are also being expanded again. In particular, the Sales Order Agent introduced in the last version is receiving new functions. For example, it can now be given further instructions when its tasks are checked and can record more sales. In addition, the Sales Order Agent can be used to automate order acceptance in sales. An agent for accounts payable can also be used to assign purchase invoices to orders and suggest more context-related invoice drafts.

There will also be new features for Copilot’s general functionality. For example, automatic field suggestions, Copilot Chat, “Tell Me” search, and the “Summarize with Copilot” feature will be optimized and expanded.

Sustainable compliance with Business Central

The sustainability reporting features that have been available in Business Central for some time now make it possible to achieve positive environmental and social impacts, increase operational efficiency, meet regulatory requirements, and contribute to a more sustainable future.

For even better results, the various functions are being expanded again in the new version of Business Central. In addition to an updated role center for sustainability managers and new demo data for sustainability, the sustainability Scope 3 value chain can now also be used for assembly and stock transfers, in the purchasing process, and for manufacturing.

Furthermore, in the future, all gases can be measured as CO2 equivalents in sustainability and energy consumption in the area of sustainability as well as points of concern related to gas emissions can be tracked. In addition, ESG reporting and CBAM and EPR calculations integrated into Business Central can be used. A report on social and governance information for employees in the area of sustainability will also be added.

New features in financial accounting and e-invoicing

Due to the Growth Opportunities Act, which has been in force since January, and the associated e-invoicing requirement, this topic remains highly relevant in Business Central. The new version therefore offers a number of innovations in this area.

In the future, for example, electronic documents can be sent in parallel via a document exchange service or by email. There are also plans to support electronic delivery notes. E-documents will be processed in two steps, and a framework will be provided to use electronic documents with Power Automate and other solutions.

The possibility of sending reminders and interest invoices as electronic documents and displaying a preview of electronic invoices on the purchase draft page has also been announced.

Further improvements are also planned in the area of financial accounting. In the future, it will be possible to create multiple asset cards and use an Accounts Payable role center.

Improvements in purchasing and production

Purchasing and production in Business Central help companies optimize their processes and increase overall efficiency. In the future, it will be possible to perform quality assessments for purchase deliveries, assemblies, and production processes. In addition, the options for outsourcing in production will be expanded.

Further innovations and optimizations

In addition to the innovations listed above, the technical and administrative areas of Business Central will also be optimized once again. Improvements to reporting and data analysis have also been announced, including enhanced financial reporting functions and analyses for purchasing.

As always, detailed information on selected new features in the new version of Business Central is available on our blog.
