BlueBioTech International GmbH was looking for a new partner with expertise in cloud solutions, standard traceability, and commercial processes to implement its Dynamics 365 Business Central update, migrate to the cloud, and integrate and digitize various other processes – and found that partner in prisma informatik GmbH.

Back to standard and off to the cloud
To handle its business processes, BlueBioTech International GmbH had previously used a customized version of the Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016 ERP application, which had been adapted to the requirements of mail order processes with several additional add-on modules. This involved the use of a large industry package that contained many unused functions but lacked some required functionalities. Updates were usually very time-consuming in this complex context.
This led to the desire to be able to work as close to the standard as possible with the ERP solution used and to implement only truly efficient specific processes outside of this. An update to the current Dynamics 365 Business Central version was therefore planned anyway. The company also wanted to take advantage of the opportunity to transition to the cloud.
The path to the cloud with a new partner
To implement the update and migrate to the cloud, BlueBioTech International GmbH ultimately sought a new, competent partner who could support them with the necessary expertise during the implementation phase and continue to provide support afterwards – and found this partner in prisma informatik GmbH. prisma informatik impressed BlueBioTech International GmbH with its solution expertise in the areas of cloud computing, standard traceability, and trading processes. In addition, the company was able to demonstrate the necessary expertise in cloud-to-cloud integration and hybrid scenarios.
While introducing the new Dynamics 365 Business Central version, the company’s document management system was also modernized. Here, too, migration was made to the cloud-based solution from DocuWare.
In addition to updating the ERP and document management systems, BlueBioTech International GmbH also needed to fully integrate the company’s e-commerce processes. Together with prisma informatik GmbH, the processes were completely redesigned and implemented in the new operating model using the latest technology with the middleware provider Alumnio.
New opportunities for procurement and production
As part of the migration project, the processes in the areas of procurement and production were also consistently adapted and optimized to the new opportunities and modules offered by Business Central. The entire process chain is now fully mapped and controlled in the ERP system. By integrating manufacturing plants and suppliers into the system landscape, production processes have been made more transparent and the entire logistics chain can now be controlled more efficiently.
Paperless processes for logistics
The company’s logistics were also optimized during the migration. The aim was to modernize and digitize the warehouse. The previous paper-based picking process was replaced during the project by mobile devices such as tablets and hand scanners, which significantly increases efficiency and quality during picking.
In the area of logistics, the existing locally used shipping solution from DHL for printing labels and communicating with the shipper was also migrated to the cloud under the conditions of an operating model.
Optimization in other areas of the company
In addition to modernizing the ERP system, e-commerce, production, and logistics, the project also included further optimizations to the system landscape at BlueBioTech International GmbH. For example, the requirements of the customer service center were jointly improved once again in terms of functionality. Likewise, the expanded system support now enables improved cost control within the value-added processes in the areas of controlling and finance and accounting.
