BI provider Qlik has released the new version of Qlik Sense on Windows. Qlik Sense May 2026 once again focuses on enhancing visualization capabilities.
The May release is the first client-managed version this year and includes several new features and optimizations in the areas of visualization and overall user experience.
Add fields to the selection bar
App developers can now pin important fields to the selection bar for easier access. This eliminates the need to duplicate filter panes for frequently used dimensions such as year, quarter, and month on every worksheet. Fields can be added and removed via the fields or master dimensions panel. The pinned fields are only visible in the common selection bar on the desktop, not in the global selector tool or in the mobile list view.
Reorganizing charts
In the assets panel, the charts have been reorganized into three categories:
- Visualizations: Visualizations for displaying data in analytic apps.
- Dashboard objects: Objects for formatting sheets to optimally display analytical information in other charts.
- Legacy: Older visualizations that are still supported for use in analytical apps.
Custom width for bar charts with a continuous axis
The bar chart has been enhanced with new options for the continuous axis. By specifying the unit of the data values, the bars can now display years, quarters, or any other numerical interval.
Inline images in the text object
In the future, dashboards can be enhanced and made more visually appealing by embedding images in the new text object. Images can be selected from the media library and can be resized and aligned.
Resizable properties panel
Users working with particularly long field names now benefit from a new feature. The properties panel is now fully resizable, allowing it to be dragged to any desired width. This enables clean, clear, and fully visible field names.
Quick sort, search and cyclic dimension change in straight tables
There are also improvements to straight tables. They now support one-click sorting and instant searching directly via the column headers.
- Sort: Clicking any column header allows you to easily switch the sort order.
- Search: Clicking the magnifying glass icon in a header opens the search bar for that column.
- Cyclic change: A single click on the cyclic icon is all it takes to change the cyclic dimension.
Drag & drop of columns in the straight table
Qlik Sense now offers the option to drag and drop columns in the straight table using the mouse while in view mode. This eliminates the need to switch to edit mode or use the chart exploration panel.
Redesign of the data section
The data section in the straight table has a new design with a single panel for current and alternative columns. This simplifies usage and ensures that the order of hidden columns is preserved when additional columns are added. This area also allows you to show or hide multiple columns at the same time.
Exploring the pivot table
Table exploration is now available for the pivot table. This allows dimensions and measures to be moved between rows and columns. Just like in the straight table, this enables the setup of alternative dimensions and measures, allowing the user to select them and create their own custom report.
Customization options for the top bar
You can now customize the appearance of the top bar in analytics applications. Both the background color and the text color can be changed. This makes it easier to adapt the user interface to your corporate design or company branding.
Add images to line charts
Line charts now support images. This allows you to add context and improve readability. Images can be added from the media library or via a custom URL.
Shapes in scatter charts – now with areas
Shapes are now also available for scatter plots. You can also define areas within scatter plots.
