With the latest release wave, Dynamics 365 Business Central has once again introduced new features and optimizations across various areas. The overall user experience has also been further improved.
To ensure the simplest and most convenient possible use and increased productivity at work, Business Central is continuously optimized and expanded. The most recently released version therefore includes several small but highly useful new features, which focus in particular on the use and management of AI agents.
Central task area for all AI agent tasks
Business Central now features a central task area where all tasks generated by AI agents are displayed in a consolidated view. Instead of searching for individual notifications on different pages, users receive a complete and clear overview of pending agent activities across areas such as finance, purchasing, sales, and operations.
The new overview is integrated into the user interface as an additional section and can be accessed from anywhere in Business Central. It displays suggestions, checks, draft documents, and other actions initiated by AI agents, among other things. Users can view tasks, check detailed information, navigate directly to the associated data record, or complete or close tasks.
Employees who regularly work with many AI-powered workflows benefit most from this central overview. By consolidating all agent-related activities in one place, the risk of overlooking tasks decreases, while efficiency and processing speed in daily work increase.
Avatars display the creators and editors of records
Another new feature displays visual avatars on list pages, allowing users to see at a glance which user or AI agent created or last modified a record. This improves transparency in collaboration without requiring records to be opened.
The avatars are based on the existing identity model and can represent specific Business Central users, system users, or AI agents. When you hover over them with the mouse pointer, additional information is displayed, such as the full display name and – if available – the timestamp of the last modification.
Teams that work with shared data – such as accountants, order processors, warehouse staff, service teams, and administrators – benefit particularly from the improved traceability. Responsibilities can be identified more quickly, which simplifies collaboration and increases acceptance of AI-generated data sets within the organization.
Review AI-generated content directly within the work context
In the future, Business Central will allow users to review and approve AI-generated content directly within the relevant work page. This eliminates the need to switch to separate screens, reducing interruptions and making the entire process significantly more efficient.
Content suggested by AI agents – such as descriptions, text modules, or field updates – is displayed right where it’s needed. Users can review the suggestions in context, customize them, and then apply them.
Context-based review ensures a seamless workflow, reduces unnecessary clicks, and supports high data and content quality. Since the feature builds on familiar Business Central user interfaces, it integrates seamlessly into existing AI-powered business processes.
Terminate an AI agent’s running tasks with a single click
Administrators and authorized users will soon have access to a feature that allows them to immediately terminate all active tasks of a selected AI agent. This is particularly helpful when an agent is malfunctioning, overloaded, or when running processes need to be stopped at short notice.
The new action terminates all of an agent’s currently running tasks centrally with a single command. A confirmation dialog appears before execution to prevent unintended interruptions.
By quickly terminating problematic processes, downtime can be reduced, issues resolved more quickly, and the stability of the Business Central environment improved. At the same time, the effort required for manual intervention is reduced, and the management of agent tasks is significantly simplified.
