The latest enhancements to Business Central’s sustainability module help companies implement their ESG strategies even more efficiently.
New APIs enable seamless integration of sustainability data into external systems and facilitate the automation of reporting and compliance processes. At the same time, new layouts for sales documents ensure that CO₂ emissions can be transparently reported on quotes and invoices. In this way, Business Central strengthens both internal data processing and the external communication of sustainability metrics throughout the entire value chain.
New layouts for sales document reports with CO₂ footprint
A new feature now supports the communication of sustainability information through customer documents. This increases transparency by displaying estimated CO₂e values per unit and the total emissions associated with sales invoices and quotes. It also simplifies compliance with ESG obligations and makes it easier to respond to the demand for carbon footprint data. A disclaimer provides clarity regarding the source and nature of the estimates.
Business Central adds new ESG-focused report layouts for sales documents, allowing carbon footprint information to be displayed directly on invoices and quotes. These Word layouts supplement the existing invoice and quote templates by adding CO₂e information per unit and a total emissions line.

The new layouts are based on the corresponding standard template and include additional sustainability fields. These fields make it possible to provide transparent emissions information for both quotes and invoices. This ensures consistency between sales documents and sustainability reports.
New Sustainability APIs for Better Integration
New APIs in Business Central will also make it easier to integrate sustainability data into external systems and reporting tools. This enables companies to automate ESG reporting, synchronize sustainability goals, and exchange emissions data with procurement systems. This reduces manual data processing, improves accuracy, and supports compliance with sustainability regulations and standards.
This feature introduces four new sustainability APIs to optimize interoperability and enable automated data flows between Business Central and external applications. The new APIs are:
- Goals: Provides read, insert, and update operations for sustainability goals.
- ESG Reporting Staging: Read-only API for accessing multi-level ESG reporting data.
- Emissions Value Entry: Read-only API for retrieving emissions value entries calculated in Business Central.
- Purchase Lines with Sustainability Detail: Enables read, insert, and update operations for purchase line items (including sustainability-related fields).
