A new feature in Dynamics 365 Business Central allows you to control posting periods using date formulas.
With this new functionality, Business Central now allows you to use date formulas instead of the rigid posting period to define the range of posting dates allowed. Instead of entering fixed dates that must be manually updated for each period, a date formula is used. Business Central then calculates the allowed posting window based on the current date.
This new feature allows you to maintain precise posting restrictions, as the posting windows are automatically adjusted based on today’s date. These automatic adjustments reduce maintenance effort and prevent errors caused by outdated or not updated settings.

Using formulas with fixed dates
For each range (from or to), you can now select either a fixed date or a date formula. If a formula is entered, the corresponding fixed date is deleted. If a fixed date is entered, the formula field is cleared. You can also combine a fixed date for one boundary and a formula for the other one. However, for strict period locks, fixed date values are safer.
