With the new Fast Mode, Qlik Answers introduces a feature that is enabled by default and delivers answers to queries in just a few seconds.
What has changed? As soon as an application is opened in Qlik Answers and a question is asked, the system now automatically switches to Fast Mode. This mode was specifically designed for direct queries of structured data. This includes, for example, retrieving individual metrics, analyzing data by specific dimensions, or creating simple charts. Compared to the previous default mode, Fast Mode responds significantly faster and reliably handles most everyday analysis needs.
What remains the same? Thinking Mode remains fully available and functions as before. It is particularly well-suited for complex analyses, multi-step inferences, or the creation of entirely new charts and worksheets. Nothing has changed in how it works – it continues to complement the new Fast Mode and is no longer the only available analysis option.
Easily switch between Fast Mode and Thinking Mode
If Fast Mode isn’t sufficient for a particular question, you can switch to Thinking Mode at any time with a single click. The toggle button is located in the chat interface once an application has been selected. The entire conversation history is preserved, so you can continue your work without interruption.
If a query cannot be fully answered in Fast Mode, Qlik Answers will notify you of this instead of providing an incomplete or inaccurate answer. In this case, the “Think more” button appears below the answer. Clicking it automatically reruns the same query in Thinking Mode – including the previous context. Therefore, you do not need to re-enter the question.
When should you use which mode?
Depending on the type of question, Qlik Answers offers the appropriate analysis mode.
Fast Mode is particularly well-suited for simple, straightforward queries, such as:
• “What were total sales for last quarter?”
• “Show me revenue by region for Q1 2026.”
• “Which sales representative generated the highest bookings in May?”
• “Create a bar chart of the ten customers with the highest order value.”
Thinking Mode, on the other hand, is recommended for more complex tasks, such as when:
• new sheets or dashboards need to be created or existing ones need to be customized,
• questions involve both structured data and documents or knowledge bases,
• multi-step analyses or comparisons are required,
• results need to be examined more closely and the answer is not immediately apparent.
Enabled by default
Fast Mode is automatically enabled for all users who have access to application analytics in Qlik Answers. No additional setup or configuration is required.
